Press Release - Metal-Matic, Inc. to Expand Tubing Production Capacity
Minneapolis, MN February 10, 2012
Metal-Matic, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high quality, precision welded, annealed and cold drawn steel tubing, announced today that as a result of increased demand in the industries that it serves, it has purchased a 245,000 square foot facility in Middletown, Ohio. The company plans to install a state-of-the-art annealing furnace and other equipment that will allow it to create an additional 30,000 - 40,000 annual tons of primarily Group 1 drawn-over-mandrel (DOM) capacity.
The expansion will boost capacity and increase the company's product offerings. Company officials state that the Ohio location relative to its customers and steel suppliers, will allow it to better serve its valued customers. Also contributing to the decision to locate to Ohio was the rich steel-industry manufacturing history, available talented work-force and access to technical training programs.
Metal-Matic, Inc. began operations in Minneapolis in 1951. In 1995, it expanded its operation by opening a facility in Bedford Park, Illinois. The company currently employs approximately 600 people between its two facilities. The planned expansion in Ohio is anticipated to increase employment by approximately 200 as the facility matures.
