As-Welded
After careful selection, the flat rolled steel is progressively roll formed into a uniform tubular shape that is electric resistance or high-frequency welded into a strong, solid tube. Quality tubing requires a sound weld which must be as strong as or stronger than the base metal. Outside welding flash is always removed. Careful attention to skiving of the O.D. weld flash makes for a truly finished product.
Inside flash may be rolled, removed by scarfing or may remain. The weld is carefully examined by destructive and non-destructive means.
I.D. weld flash can be scarfed to industry standards or other special requirements. O.D. tolerances can be held well within commercial standards or even tighter when required.
